DSP Issue 3 // Reaching A Plateau
Micro-fiction, poetry, and musings from among the stars.
Dear reader,
Hope all is well in your corner of the universe. I’m still working through edits on Mara’s Awakening, but that’s nothing new.
I’m struggling with the balance between writing a great book and wanting to get it finished. I know done is better than perfect, but it’s hard to know when my editing will be complete.
How much is too much?

What I’m Writing
I’ve been writing short flash fiction pieces recently to enjoy the process and not overthink about it!
Once I’ve written enough, I’ll edit them and collate them into an exclusive ebook for you! Stay tuned.
What I’m Revising
Still revising Mara’s Awakening. I’ve lost count of which edit this is!
For this round, I’m looking at plot holes (again) and how I can make the narrative more engaging. It’s slow work, but I’m getting there!
Literary Segment
What I’m Reading
I’m reading the science fiction YA thriller The Ones We’re Meant To Find.
It has beautiful, lyrical prose, and I’m enjoying how it balances between rich detail and fast-paced storytelling.
What I’m Eyeing
Next on my TBR is Daughter Of The Deep by Rick Riordan.
Also, To Be Taught If Fortunate by Becky Chambers.
I’ve heard great things about them and can’t wait to read them!

6 Words Story
Fleeting is this way of life.
50 Words Microfiction
He walks through his environment every single day, but he can see nothing beyond his distracting optical illusions. He's blind to the surrounded of distant metal polymers, shutting out the synthetic, lonely place.
The only place he can escape is his head because he lives in a cold, artificial world.
100 Flash
Exploding stars started it all. She wasn't the only one who was caught in the explosion, but she survived. She will never forget.
A cataclysmic event ripped apart space time, causing everything in its vicinity to be sucked up by the black hole it had created. All were gone except for her.
Time passed differently in this limbo. For the rest of the world, hundreds of years had passed. When she turned around and finally found the way out, life as she knew it had vanished.

Galactic Verse
The stars are bright
But everyone's so lonely
Lost among the birthing stars
Stranded in the mother nebula
No one's seen the earth for years
The ship is running out of fuel
The engines are failing
We're not sure how long
Or how much time before
The last drops of power go cold
I'm afraid I'll never feel the sun again
Experience the sea spray
Watch the leafy greens sway
I'll be lost in this sea of space forever
But i can't think about that now
I need to get the new shields up
Can't let the new generators run out of power
We can't fix the engines while they're running
But if we don't
There's no way we'll get home
